The Kagyu Monlam is an auspicious Buddhist Prayer Festival which celebrates the interconnectedness of all sentient beings in our world. It is a great occasion when all monastic bodies together with the lay Buddhist communities unite together to pray for world peace, harmony, happiness and the wellbeing of our global community.

This tradition of the Great Aspiration Prayer Gatherings originates from Tibet in 15th century and was established by His Holiness the 7th Karmapa, Chödrak Gyatso. Today, this yearly Prayer Festival is held at the sacred site of Bodhgaya, India. This ancient Buddhist tradition is being maintained and is flourishing under the auspicious guidance of His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje.

Now, it is Australia’s turn! The 7th Australian Kagyu Monlam organised this year by Kadri Bodhi Monastery Inc. in partnership with the following Buddhist organisations:

  • D.G.T. Vision Inc.
  • Karma Yiwong Samten Ling Tibetan Buddhist Centre Inc.
  • Karmapa Australia Inc.
  • Bori Korean Buddhist Society of NSW Inc.

Together, 5 organisations with the Buddhist community will celebrate the Kagyu Monlam Prayer Festival through chants, meditation, offering, ‘empowerment’ blessing ceremony, film, multicultural performances, dedication and lots more…
