Kyabje Bokar Khenchen Lodoe Thonyor Rinpoche After arrived in India 1965 at the age of 13 years with Kyabje Bokar Rinpoche, he spent the next five years studying Tibetan literature and English in a Tibetan Institute in Darjeeling.

Rinpoche attended Sanskrit University in Varanasi in 1966 and proceeded in completing a nine-year academic achievements by 1975. After his studies, Khenchen Thonyor Rinpoche joined “Kyabje Rinpoche” and HH the 16th Gyalwang Karmapa at Sonada Monastery in Darjeeling to mark his great achievement of Dharma studies and practice.

It was also in Sonada Monastery that Dorje Chang Kalu Rinpoche bestowed teachings on a great number of profound Tantras and related practices to Khenchen Thonyor Rinpoche. Rinpoche is a renowned scholar, not only known for his knowledge but also for his compassion and accomplishments of Dharma practice.

Khenchen Thonyor Rinpoche is the author of many profound commentaries and books. Amongst his works, an elaborate commentary on the Tantra of Kalachakra has earned him acclaim from His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

In 2004, Khenchen Thonyor Rinpoche became the main spiritual successor of Kyabje Bokar Rinpoche. In the fifty years where he has served as Kyabje Bokar Rinpoche’s attendant, he has also received all the precious teachings, in its entirety, from Kyabje Bokar Rinpoche.

After Kyabje Bokar Rinpoche’s passage into Parinirvana, Khenchen Thonyor Rinpoche assumed the responsibilities of educating HE Yangsi Kalu Rinpoche and a vast number of ordained and lay disciples who regard him to be their guiding light and refuge.

H.E Lodoe Thonyor Khen Rimpoche is currently the head of the Bokar Ngedon Chokhor Ling Monastery in Mirik, West Bengal, India. Founded in 1984, Bokar Ngedon Chokhor Ling was initially a small retreat centre. Mowday, the monastery has grown in size and importance. It is now a thriving place of education and home to more than 500 monks who are devoted to studying and propagating the teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha.
