The 8th Australian Kagyu Monlam preparations
Spring is upon us and with only 2 weeks to go, preparation for the 8th Kagyu Monlam is well under way. Torma used for the Monlam Festival have been painstakingly created by Lamas from Romtek Monastery and will adorned the main shrine area during the 3 days Kagyu Monlam celebration.
Our team of volunteers and monastic sangha are working hard to bring to all a wonderful Monlam Festival. We are guided in each of our actions by the words and aspirations of H.H. The 17th Gyalwang Karmapa.
The 8th Australian Monlam program and festival promise to be engaging and entertaining for all participants. Highlights include:
— Chanting and prayers from various Buddhist traditions
— Guided meditations sessions
— Green Tara Empowerment and Shok (Feast) Offering
— Tibetan Buddhist Art Exhibition [featuring thangkas, gilded statues and tormas].
— Screening of ” Torma : the Ancient Art of Tibetan Butter Sculpture” film.
— The creation and destruction of a Sacred Mandala.
— Precious Buddhist relics display for viewing and veneration.
— Marme Monlam [Lamp/light & Khata offering].
— Multicultural performances.
About the Australian Kagyu Monlam
The Kagyu Monlam is an auspicious Buddhist Prayer Festival which celebrates the interconnectedness of all sentient beings in our world. It is a great occasion when all monastic bodies together with the lay Buddhist communities unite together to pray for world peace, harmony, happiness and the well-being of our global community.

FAQs
Transport/parking options to and from the venue
BUS & TRAIN — Bankstown Train Station and bus terminal is a short two minute walk from Bankstown Sports Club.
CAR & PARKING — There is plenty of free undercover parking for members and guest at the venue. Entry is via Mona Street or Greenfield Pde. Please remember to validate your ticket at the reception desk for Monday session.
What NOT to bring into the event
To comply with the venue’s guidelines and requirements, we ask participants to NOT bring any food or drink inside the Grand Ballroom at Bankstown Sports Club.
Tickets for the event
There is no need for paper tickets or to print this confirmation email. Your name will be on an attendance list at the entrance.
